Note that Ad-Aware does not remove the Surf+ ScumWare from your system at the time of this writing. You will need to do that manually.

Ad-aware can remove ad programs that are required for various "freeware" programs to work, not just ScumWare. Removal of the freeware's ads usually means the program won't work anymore. Carefully read the Ad-aware FAQ before running it. They will walk you through the process and keep you from making a deletion that creates a problem.

Lavasoft also offers a real-time asWare monitor to continuously monitor your computer and detect any efforts by programs to contact a server to send information about your activities while online. For $15 this is truly a great buy. Just getting ScumWare and SpyWare off your machine does not protect you staqrting the next time you connect to the Internet.
